Target 101

Print both the Target Corporate Coupon Policy, and the Target Price Matching Policy, and keep them in your Target folder, clutch, binder, or whatever you bring to Target in case you need them!

Couponing Tip: To avoid the nasty register beep, try to hand the cashier your manufacturer’s coupons first. Coupons that are above the value of the item price will be adjusted down. No overage is given at Target. The only way to create a “money maker” scenario at Target is by stacking with a gift card deal.

Target Matchup Sites

Keep in mind that the matchup sites might have a deal posted that is not available in your area. Target practices regional pricing and regional price cuts. While a lot of times, we see the same deal in several locations, there will be times that your store will have a different price than listed in the matchup site. In addition to that, inventory is going to be different from store to store. Not ALL Target stores carry the same items. Some carry less and some carry more. I know our store in Kohler usually stocks very little in the food department, whereas if I were to go to Milwaukee, there is a Target with a HUGE food section.

Target Store Coupons

You will find Target Store Coupons on Target’s website, in the Sunday inserts on occasion or in home mailers if you are on Target’s Mailing List.

Up & Up freebie w/coupon – One of my favorite types of deals is when Target releases high value Up & Up brand coupons that we can use to score free products! For example, a $1.00/1 ANY Up & Up Pain Relief Item coupon will score us a free 24 count bottle of Up & Up Ibuprofen!

Stacking store coupons with manufacturer coupons: At Target, you are allowed to use 1 manufacturer coupon and 1 Target store coupon per item purchased. This is called a “stack” and will help us score the absolute best deals!

Target Mobile Coupons

Target sends Mobile Coupons right to your Smart Phone about twice per month. You can sign up for this service on the Target website. Target sends the message with the coupons, and you can redeem them as store coupons by scanning the barcode image on your phone at checkout. Mobile coupons may be stacked with a manufacturer coupon but cannot be stacked with Target store coupons. You can only use each mobile coupon once.

How to tell the difference between Store coupons and Manufacturer coupons on Target’s coupon site

MANUFACTURER COUPONS: Manufacturer coupons always use the wording “when you buy” in the coupon.
TARGET COUPONS: Target coupons always use the phrase “with purchase of” OR no pre-emptive wording at all.
OR you could always try the “print preview” feature on your computer when you aren’t completely sure.

Gift Card Promotions

Target often runs “Gift Card Promos” in their weekly ad and other unadvertised promos throughout the month. When purchasing items that are part of a Gift Card Promotion, you can stack a manufacturer and a store coupon on the item and still receive your gift card! Also, these Gift Card Promos can be rolled. This means you can buy the participating items, turn around and buy the same items in your second transaction, use the gift card as part of your payment, and receive a new Target gift card!

Price Cuts

Target temporary price cuts can run anywhere from 3 – 6 weeks long before going back up to full price. You’ll recognize a Price Cut by the yellow “price cut” tag on the shelf. Price cuts are regional – and may not be in every Target location at the same time. Stacking Price cuts with coupon deals make for serious savings!

Price Matching

To Price Match at Target, just bring in your competitor store ad and check out at customer service. The competitor’s ad must be local and current, and the product must be the identical item, brand name, quantity and model number. The ad is the ONLY acceptable form of proof for price matching and no photocopies, pictures, or printouts will be accepted.

The best part about price matching at Target is that you can use coupons in addition to the price match!

Target Red Card

There are 2 types of Target Red Card available. You can apply for a Target Credit Card that serves as a credit card for all Target purchases AND you can apply for a Target Check Card which links to your checking account and works just like a debit card. The biggest perk to owning a Red Card? You’ll score an extra 5% off of EVERY purchase you make using your card! Plus, if you are shopping online, your RedCard purchases qualify for free shipping. When you use your RedCard to pay for prescriptions at the Target Pharmacy, for every 5th RX purchase, you’ll earn an additional 5% savings pass to use for an entire day (of your choice) on every purchase that day. You CAN stack that savings pass with your automatic 5% RedCard savings!

Reusable Shopping Bags

Target will take $.05 off of your shopping bill for every reusable shopping bag that you bring with and use.
