I have been talking a lot this week about animals and how Disney contributes to conservation and wildlife efforts through their parks and movies, including Disneynature’s newest release Monkey Kingdom. With Earth Day being this week, it couldn’t be more timely. However, this is stuff that we should ALWAYS be thinking about. When planning your next vacation to Disney World, you might want to consider checking out Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and all of the animal adventures that it has to offer! It’s a very unique experience that your whole family will learn from and truly enjoy.
While visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, I had the chance to chat with Animal Operations Manager Greg Peccie about the property, restaurants, and the work that they do with the animals every single day.
What makes the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge unique?
Disney employees come in from different countries for 12 months at a time to teach guests about their home country and culture! This is such an awesome way to really get to know about a different culture, straight from someone who lives there! Plus, it’s a great work opportunity for them as well!
Pool with Waterslide
Escape to an 11,000-square-foot pool with an exciting waterslide and gently sloping, zero-depth entry point similar to that of a natural watering hole. Surrounded by large canopy trees and Floridian palms, Uzima Pool includes a children’s wading pool and 2 whirlpool spas.
Award Winning Dining
Savor vibrant African specialties and favorite American classics at the award-winning restaurants! I had the opportunity to dine at SANAA and it was amazing. You can experience the “Untamed Lunch” at Sanaa too! It includes a 4 course meal and the opportunity to dine with an animal specialist! This is a fun learning experience that is unforgettable!
Discover over 30 species of African wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, gazelles, kudu and flamingos. There are over 200 individual animals in all! To see these animals co-existing throughout the lodge property is incredible. This is not a zoo – it’s an animal encounter! Identify each species with a Wildlife Field Guide (found in your Guest Room, with extras available from the Lobby Concierge), and learn more about African animals and ecosystems during fun programs led by Animal Specialists.
Supervised Children’s Activity Center
At Simba’s Clubhouse, kids 3 to 12 years of age can play games, have dinner and snacks, make crafts, watch Disney movies and make new friends—while parents enjoy an evening to themselves.
Staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge turns your visit into an ADVENTURE! Surrounded by culture, animals, and an amazing view (75% of the rooms include a view of the animals!), you will never forget your stay!
Want to immerse yourself in the “animal kingdom” without planning a trip to Disney World’s Animal Kingdom? Head to your local theaters to check out Disneynature’s newest release, Monkey Kingdom! It’s a fun and educational film that is sure to have you hugging your own little monkeys!!
