Recipes From the Stockpile: Cupcake Torches

Check out this fun recipe that Anne made with goodies she found in her stockpile!!

In support of my son’s love Lego Ninjago I made him Cupcake Torches for his recent birthday treat! The treats were a hit and they were so simple to make from items I had in the pantry and stockpile!

1 Betty Crocker SuperMoist Cake Mix (Prepared by the instructions on the box)

Instead of liners, I used Joy Ice Cream Cake Cones… I set each cone in one of the muffins tins and filled them a little more than 1/2 way to allow for explansion!

Orange Creme Buttercream:
2 sticks of butter, softened
4 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 Tbsp Milk (for thinning)
1 Packet Duncan Hines Orange Creme Flavor Creations

Cream butter in stand mixer. Sift in powdered sugar. Mix on low. Add vanilla. Add milk a little a time until frosting consistency. Add in packet of Duncan Hines Flavor Creations Orange Creme. Whip until smooth! Take 1/2 of the frosting and tint it red with food coloring.

Side by side in a piping bag, put the Orange Frosting and Red Frosting. When you pipe the frosting it will be swirled and resemble “fire” for the top of your torch!

To transport the treats to school, we placed each “torch” in a clear plastic cup and slipped the cup into a clear cellophane treat bag. They were super cute and the kids really got a kick out it!
