Disney’s Descendants DVD and Dark Side Velvet Cupcakes Recipe #DescendantsEvent

I’m a HUGE Disney Villain fan, and so is my whole family! We were all very excited for Disney Channel’s newest movie, Descendants, because it follows the children of some of our favorite villains: Maleficent, Jafar, Evil Queen, and Cruella De Ville!

Apparently, we aren’t the only ones, as Disney’s Descendants has already had over 1 MILLION views!!

Leading into its television premiere TONIGHT, FRIDAY, JULY 31 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT), Disney’s “Descendants” has posted more than 1 million views on the WATCH Disney Channel app in just five days, setting records for engagement and viewing for the app which allows consumers to watch programming anytime and anywhere via their desktop, smartphone, tablet and connected TV devices.

From the Emmy Award-winning director and choreographer Kenny Ortega (“High School Musical” franchise) comes this original contemporary story of classic Disney characters reinvented and the introduction of modern Disney lore. Enter this new epic universe of relatable tween characters on a journey of self-discovery. New on Disney DVD, and complete with never-before-seen bonus and a FREE bracelet!

In a present day idyllic kingdom, the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney’s iconic “Beauty and the Beast”) is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making offspring of Cruella de Vil, Maleficent the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters. These villainous descendants (Carlos, Mal, Evie and Jay, respectively) are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes, including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma. Should they follow in their nefarious parents’ footsteps and help all the villains regain power or embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom?

You can see Disney’s Descendants on Disney Channel, but you can only get the awesome bonus content on the DVD!!

Of course, one of my favorite things to do when we check out a new film as a family is create a themed event out of it! It is so much fun to whip up a special treat, grab some printables, and sometimes we even dress up as some of our favorite characters or anything that we think is inspired by the movie! These Dark-Side Velvet Cupcakes are the PERFECT sweet treat for a viewing party and easy to make!Screen-Shot-2015-07-31-at-2.03.16-PM-1024x677

Cream Cheese Buttercream Frosting Recipe

What you need:

  • 1 Block (8 oz) Cream Cheese

On medium speed, with paddle in mixer, beat cream cheese, butter and salt (and coloring, if using) for 5 minutes. (YES, 5 full minutes, this is the key to fluffy buttercream!)
